Trims and Powertrain

The 2020 Volkswagen Jetta presents buyers with a choice of five trim levels: the S, SE, R-Line, SEL, and SEL Premium. Every trim gets a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 147 hp. The S and R-Line come with a standard six-speed manual transmission, while the others receive an eight-speed automatic transmission (available for the S and R-Line). Front-wheel drive is the sole drivetrain for each. As mentioned, the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta is highly efficient, achieving an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

Comfort and Convenience

The base S comes with 16-inch wheels, LED headlights, cloth seats, a rearview camera, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. A Driver Assistance Package, which will add heated side mirrors, is offered. The SE gets the heated side mirrors as standard, along with a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, a simulated-leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and V-Tex leatherette seats. The optional Cold Weather Package adds remote start, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, and heated windshield washer nozzles.

The R-Line is the most athletic version of the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta, as it's supplied with a stylized rear bumper, gloss-black exterior accents, fog lights, R-Line badging, a genuine-leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an electronic differential lock, which helps improve traction during accelerating. The Cold Weather Package remains optional for this trim. With the SEL, the R-Line's contents are no longer included; instead, it yields the SE's items along with the VW Digital Cockpit, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, a wireless charger, and the features from the Cold Weather Package. The SEL Premium receives memory functions for the power-adjustable driver's seat and side mirrors, bolstered front seats with ventilation feature, and leather upholstery.

Safety and Technology Features

The Driver Assistance Package mentioned above gives the S and SE forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The SEL adds standard lane keeping assist, high beam control, adaptive cruise control, and rear traffic alert.

The technology features in the S, SE, and R-Line consist of a 6.5-inch Car-Net infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, and a USB data port. The SEL lays out an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice recognition and a premium nine-speaker BeatsAudio sound system. The SEL Premium gets integrated navigation.
